The Indian Cultural Center, Colombo will be organizing a Tabla Recital by Amit Bhushan in Banaras Gharana at 6.00 pm on Friday, June 24 at the Indian Cultural Centre located at Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07. Amit Bhusan is an internationally acclaimed Tabla Player from India. He is one of the finest exponents of Banaras Gharana and started learning Tabla at the age of six from Pandit Bachchan Pathak and became a child prodigy within few years of training. He was later trained under the kind guidance of legendry artiste and world renowned Tabla Maestro Padma Bhushan Pandit Samta Prasad. Amit holds a ‘Masters’ in Indian Classical Music. His deep understanding of music, rigorous practice, improvisation and artistic brilliance makes him an effortless recitalist. He has played in several music festivals and concerts in India and abroad in the last three decades. He has performed widely in many countries like Lebanon, Singapore, Germany, Qatar, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Egypt and UAE. He won All India Tabla competition and also is a recipient of Gold Medal in Tabla at Youth Festival, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Culture, Government of India.

A Tabla Recital by Amit Bhushan from Banaras Gharana will be held on June 24 at 6 pm at the Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo 7. It is organised by the Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo. Amit Bhushan is an internationally acclaimed tabla player from India. He is one of the finest exponents of Banaras Gharana and started learning tabla at 6 years from Pandit Bachchan Pathak. He became a child prodigy within a few years of training. He was later trained under the guidance of legendary artist and world renowned tabla maestro Padma Bhushan Pandit Samta Prasad. Amit holds 'Masters' in Indian Classical Music. His deep understanding of music, rigorous practice, improvisation and artistic brilliance makes him an effortless recitalist. He has played in several music festivals and concerts in India and abroad in the last three decades. He has performed widely in many countries such as Lebanon, Singapore, Germany, Qatar, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Egypt, UAE etc. He has also accompanied many eminent musicians such as Pt. Satish Kumar, Anuradha Sriram, Pandit Sriram Parasuram, Ghazal maestro late Pandit Vithal Rao and others. He also likes to write his own tabla-compositions and improvise rhythmic patterns in tabla. He won All India Tabla competition and also is a recipient of the Gold Medal in Tabla at Youth Festival, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Culture, India.
